09. __Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management

Indian Society of Hospital Waste Management (ISHWM) is a registered body of professionals to address the issues and concerns of hospital waste at the national level, and to facilitate/advocate/undertake research activities on issues of hospital waste management and eco-friendly disposal.
The society comprises of experts/specialists from various disciplines involved in Hospital Waste Management and provides conceptual guidance and oversees scientific research for further development.I

SHWM undertook a pilot project to lay down a system of BMWM at Air Force Hospital at Bangalore, with the support from WHO. ISHWM also undertook a project to study mutagenic effects in the hospital waste and another project on External Audit of BMWM system and technologies in 10 major govt controlled hospitals in Delhi.
